A NEW YEAR, AN UPDATED MISSION

2011 was a turning point for Heartbeat For Hope in several ways:

** We were able to commit full support for 16 special children at the

Village of Hope (which could not have been accomplished without you)

** A connection was made with the VOH that joins H4H in efforts that can

better serve the VOH through the VOH Committee.

** We reached several new goals for funds and organization of H4H to

expand our mission for the VOH.

These are a few of the things that have impacted our organization this year to better serve the Village of Hope. We could not be more blessed! These children have a wonderful place to live at the Village of Hope, and we are helping them stay in that community by providing funds for their yearly living expenses. Thank you for making that happen.

2012 will be bringing more changes for the better. As is everything, each past year is a learning process, and we are taking advantage of those lessons and moving forward with programs that have worked, and new ones that have promises of good things!

In February we will be kicking off the COOKBOOK asking for donated recipes. We are very excited about this, and it will be for anyone who wants to contribute, including the women of the Village of Hope!

We will also be kicking off a new sponsorship program in conjunction with the Village of Hope committee allowing individuals, families, groups, etc. to sponsor a child. We have been working hard to organize this new program, and it should kick off early spring.

We appreciate your prayers and support of this ministry, and we hope that you will continue to participate with us this year!

GOD IS GOOD!

We are ecstatic to report that our goal for 2011 has been met! We were able to send funds to the VOH for the full year's support of 16 children!!!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible in so many ways. We already have a good head start for next year! Onward and upward!

Also, thanks to extreme generosity the special need for communion trays has been fulfilled! The trays have been ordered and received, and we will be taking them with us when we head to Ghana at the end of January.

I have been updated that there are now 24 kids in the Joy House at the Village of Hope because three of our kids from the past few years have graduated! It is wonderful knowing that we have been able to provide tuition funds for these kids to help make that possible.

A letter from Tommy Drinnen:

Greetings to everyone
I arrived in Ghana on Sunday afternoon on the new direct flight from Atlanta to Accra. It took only 15 hours to get here from the time I left home and thats great. I met the White Station group for supper and then they got on the plane that I arrived on and went home. As usual, they did a wonderful job here and we are grateful. The Ghanaians are still mourning the World Cup loss to Uraguay but have some satisfaction that they "scored" the US as they say it.
Wanted to share with you some of my first thoughts from Sunday. First of all, I want everyone to know about the job that Chelsea Jones is doing here. Chelsea has been living in my house for the past year and doing many of the things that I would be doing here. She is a graduate of OCU and from Portland, Oregon. She teaches at the school, runs the reading and writing programs, and is a mom to about a million kids here - she has just done an incredible job here. Each time Im here I see her ministry growing and her influence - she is definitely just one of the people here now and the kids absolutely love her. I cannot even begin to thank God for her and to thank her for her ministry here. I just watched in amazement again yesterday as she went about her work. Please pray for her as she continues her work here.
The Village, as I have told you, is entering new and exciting phases. I ate supper Sunday evening with Francis Sosu, who finished law school last week, Paul Nyarko and George Anyaba - who finished Valley View University last year. Paul and George are orphans who grew up at the Village and who are in their first year out of school working as accountants in Accra. Between Francis. Paul and George, they have planted 5 churches and are working with those young bodies of Christians. the Village of Hope impact is just beginning to grow in Ghana and these guys are setting the example for those to follow. They are preaching, teaching, leading worship and sharing Christ with whoever they meet.
Meanwhile, back here at the Village, 4 young people were baptized on Sunday night. Maame Yaa, an orphan here at the Village, Nancy and Priscilla, boarding students at Hope Christian, and Samantha Asare, Fred's daughter, whom he had the honor of baptizing into Christ. When we started the boarding school for kids all over Ghana, we knew that there would be great opportunities for outreach. 15 children from the boarding houses have been baptized into Christ. The orphaned children also continue to respond to the gospel of love.
If we only give these kids a great education and clothes and food and even love and concern, we have done nothing for them. Jesus said what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his soul. The Village of Hope continues to have at its core mission that these kids would become fully human in Christ. And that is still happening and will continue to happen and its happening in every increasing circles. And now we are getting to the really exciting part! The part where they go out and live it and do it and share it. Its a sight to behold!

AMAZING HEARTS!!

In the past two months we have had FOUR different elementary kids give up birthday presents in exchange for guests making donations to Heartbeat For Hope for the Village of Hope children!

These children know what it means to be selfless! How amazing!

Their generosity and spirits are more than a financial blessing - they are inspiring and humbling!

Thank you to these precious children! The Village of Hope children on the other side of the world will be given another month in school because of you!

Walk For Hope 2010 - RECAP

WALK FOR HOPE had an overwhelming response. There was an outpouring of generosity that was so humbling.

With over 670 walkers at the event, more than 50 donors, and the amazing Journey Land kids of Memorial Road Church of Christ who made crafts to sell, we raised over $8,700!!!
We exceeded our goal by more than $3,500!!

Now every kid in the Joy House at the Village of Hope will be able to go to school for an entire year without worry. They will not have to think one second about whether they will be able to continue the next month and the next.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make this event such a success!

Francis Welcome to Heartbeat for Hope from Heartbeat for Hope on Vimeo.

Francis Sosu lived on the streets for the majority of his childhood trying to survive any way that he could. When he was 16 one of the house parents from the Village of Hope found him and took him to the Village to live. He later graduated from Hope Academy. Francis has almost completed his law degree then he will return to Ghana to further help the future of his country.

WHO CAN ATTEND: Anyone! Kids, parents, babies in strollers, grandparents, college kids, young couples, old couples…ALL MRCC MEMBERS are welcome!

DATE: Sunday evening, May 2nd following evening worship. As a group we will walk from the Memorial Road parking lot (near the Summit) around the campus of OC. (There will be two options, the 2 mile walk or the 1 mile walk!) Afterwards we will meet back up in the gym for a FREE pizza party to celebrate our success!

COST: Only $27 per FAMILY or $10/Individual! The $27 represents the 27 children we help support! (Just think if we had 200 families participate we would raise $5,400 for The Village of Hope, Joy House!) Checks need to be payable to HEARTBEAT FOR HOPE.

REGISTRATION: Begins Sunday, March 28th

HIGHLIGHT: We will also be providing a table at the Walk to spotlight some of our Journey Land kids who have thought of ways they could help the Village of Hope kids. If you are interested in displaying something please contact us!

All 28 of the students who graduated from Hope Christian Academy in April have received their scores from the National Exam and have earned "Distinction" which is the highest score possible. About half of them made a perfect score on the exam.

They have now graduated 77 young people from Hope Christian in 4 years and 76 of them have earned a score of "Distinction" on the National Exam (the one student missed the score by one point). Every one of the students received their first choice of high school. God is indeed blessing the efforts of the teachers and the administration as they prepare students to have the opportunity to get a good education.
